Is your copier secure?

Colorado Springs, make sure your data is safe!

If your office deals with information that needs to be secure you have probably thought through network security. So your computers are safe, but are your copiers? Sometimes they get overlooked, and if you have clients to protect you can’t afford to have an unsecured copier. Consider the following.

  • Since 2002 most copiers come standard with an internal hard drive. This means that you may have stored images of the copies you have made being stored on your copier’s hard drive.
  • Not all copiers come with a built in security kit, and even if yours did you need to make sure that it has been configured correctly.
  • Will you return your copier at the end of it’s lease? If so you may be sending sensitive images to someone who you don’t know.
  • If you have an attorney, CPA, or the medical field you should especially head this advice but anyone who wants to keep client information secure should keep this in mind.
